Membership Categories and Dues

The Association’s Board of Directors has defined membership categories within two types of membership: (A) Voting; and (B) Nonvoting.


A. Voting Membership shall contain three categories:

(1) Active; (2) Life; and (3) Emeritus.

  1. Active Members: The following are eligible for Active Membership:
    a. An individual employed to perform school business functions by any of the following located in the State of Arizona,
    • Public School District   
    • Charter School
    • Private School
    • Parochial School
    • College or University
    • State, County or Government Agency
    b. An individual serving as a full-time faculty member of a college or university teaching in the areas of school business or educational administration,
    c. A school entity, in which case the entity must designate one business official to represent this entity.
  2. Life Members: Life Members receive the same benefits as Active Members. Past Presidents of AASBO receive an honorary Life Membership, and those meeting the established criteria as set forth in the bylaws are eligible for Life Membership.
  3. Emeritus Members: Individuals meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply for and may be granted Emeritus Membership:
    a. The individual held an Active Membership in AASBO at the time of retirement from the field of school business administration,
    b. The individual is not employed in any capacity making the individual eligible for membership in AASBO as either a voting or non-voting member

B. Nonvoting Membership shall contain two categories:
(1) Business Associate Member; and (2) Honorary Member.

  1. Business Associate Members: Individuals commercially interested in the field of school business management, including exhibitors, business firms, advertisers, professional engineers, architects, certified public accountants or other business related professions are eligible for Business Associate membership. In addition, a firm may purchase a Business Associate Membership with the company designating one employee to represent the firm.
  2. Honorary Members: Individuals may be offered this membership classification upon the recommendation of the Executive Director and approval by the Board of Directors.



AASBO’s membership dues are for a 12-month period; benefits begin when full payment is received. AASBO memberships are individual memberships. The annual membership dues for both voting and non-voting members are $175 (effective January 1, 2018) per person.





AASBO Affiliates are non-members who wish to be affiliated with AASBO for the purposes of attending trainings and events, receiving valuable AASBO communications, and networking with other School Business Professionals. To be eligible for Affiliate status, individuals must meet the criteria for "Active Members" listed above. Affiliate status may be converted to active membership at any time at the request of the individual. Member benefits vary slightly from those of Active Members:

  • AASBO's Affiliates will:
    • be eligible to join "member only" online forums and groups,
    • receive all electronic communications addressed to Active members,
    • be eligible to attend all AASBO Events,
    • receive a printed copy of The Edge, AASBO's 40-page magazine published five times each year,
    • receive on-line access to AASBO's Annual Membership Directory.
  • AASBO's Affiliates will not:
    • receive "Active Member" discounts as may be offered for AASBO's conference and events,
    • receive complimentary registrations for AASBO's Bi-Monthly Membership Meetings,
      • Affiliates are encouraged to attend these meetings. The cost to attend these meetings is $25 per individual per meeting (includes lunch)
    • receive a printed copy of AASBO's Annual Membership Directory.
