AASBO

 IDEA Project

(Initiative for Data and Educational Analytics)

Eighteen years ago, AASBO begun what was called the AASBO Data Project. This program was implemented to provide districts with district level comparative analytics based on AFR data. It was then expanded to include webinars to provide accurate information to state policy makers regarding questions related to school district funding and expenditures and to conduct webinars to share information with school districts across the state. AASBO believes this project has helped state leaders to better understand the impact of changes to the state funding formula on individual districts. We believe that the Webinar/Data project, has helped prevent changes to the school funding formula that would have further reduced funding to schools by tens of millions of dollars.

The IDEA Project (Initiative for Data and Educational Analytics) will now provide districts a new, cost-effective and user-friendly tool powered by Forecast5 Analytics Inc, called 5Sight Basic. This tool can be used to analyze multiple years of your district’s enrollment, expenditures, revenues and AG Spending Reports to compare that data with those of other districts and charter schools. This information is based on data provided by ADE. Districts will also have the option to purchase up to the full version of 5Sight to expand the comparative analytics to include student achievement, staffing and coming soon, GL level comparative analytics.

Along with comparative data analytics, the IDEA Project will continue to provide members data-driven webinars and PowerPoint presentations on a variety of topics during the year and keep school district officials updated on critical issues during the year. From legislative updates to USFR issues these Webinars keep district staff up to date on important topics. These webinars provide individuals from across the state, current critical information and save on travel costs and travel time. In addition, AASBO will provide valuable information and access to Engage to our IDEA forum which will provide district staff, current and critical legislative and financial information. This will allow individuals from all over the state to be updated on the latest information available.

By joining the IDEA Project, you help AASBO to:

  • Provide your district, a user-friendly tool to analyze multiple years of your district’s enrollment, expenditures and revenues and compare that data with those of other districts and charter schools, based ADE provided AFR data.

  • Provide valuable school finance information available to the Legislature, the Governor’s Office, the citizens of Arizona and other organizations that help K-12 education

  • Create the opportunity for staff from your district to participate in valuable and informative AASBO Webinars

  • Provide interaction with other AASBO members through ASSBO Engage to collaborate on current and critical financial information, data analytics and legislative issues.

The IDEA project is funded by the fees paid by the individual school districts. The fees are based upon the size of the district, with lower fees for smaller districts. NOTE: If you are already a client of Forecast5 and currently subscribing to 5Sight, you will not be required to pay an additional fee and will automatically be a member of the IDEA Engage group.
