Doug Lipp

KEYNOTE TITLE: Anything is Possible...With "Yes, If"
4 Lessons from Walt Disney About: Resilience, Learning & Creativity
“Do more with less.” “Cut budgets.” “Improve service.” The COVID-19 pandemic has turned our world upside down and begs the following questions:

  • How do you deal with challenging situations?
  • When in a situation that you “can’t control,” what options do you actually have?

For some organizations, burnout and employee turnover is the outcome. Others rise higher, taking their creativity, energy, and strategies to the next level. Which do you choose and how do you get there?
Far from a doom and gloom presentation, Doug’s engaging (and often funny) style will get your creative juices flowing. Doug will share unforgettable examples of resilience and creativity learned during his career at The Walt Disney Company.

Candid. Passionate. Relevant. Doug Lipp is on a crusade to help organizations strengthen their corporate culture, boost business performance, and unapologetically, have fun while doing it. Doug is a distinguished international consultant, eight-time author, and former head of training at the legendary Disney University. His latest book is the best-selling  Disney U: How Disney University Develops the World’s Most Engaged, Loyal, and Customer-Centric Employees.  At age 29, Doug’s celebrated talent catapulted him to the helm of the legendary Disney University training team at Walt Disney corporate headquarters.  Fluent in Japanese, Doug also helped Disney open its first international theme park as a member of the Tokyo Disneyland start-up team. Drawing on his 30 plus years of combined experience at Disney and in private practice, Doug inspires and challenges hundreds of organizations worldwide. In presentations, he shares how Disney overcame spectacular strategic challenges to unleash one of the most improbable success stories in corporate history. Through riveting examples and powerful, relevant stories about innovation, service, value and leadership, Doug pulls back the curtain and reveals the behaviors, tools and attitudes that are representative of cultural excellence at Disney and other great institutions. He also discusses common organizational traps that undermine companies and impede their ability to build a thriving and sustainable culture.

Colonel Arthur J. Athens,

USMCR (Ret.)

KEYNOTE TITLE: Back to the Basics: The Fundamentals of Extraordinary Leadership

Great teams, organizations and schools are always very proficient in the fundamentals that drive success in their environment.  Great leaders are also characterized by their proficiency with the fundamentals of influencing others to achieve a common objective.  But what are the fundamentals of extraordinary leadership?  This presentation addresses the three leadership fundamentals that differentiate extraordinary leaders from ordinary ones.

Colonel Athens recently left the federal government, having served for the past decade as the Director of the U.S. Naval Academy’s Vice Admiral James B. Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership and previously, as the Naval Academy’s first Distinguished Military Professor of Leadership. Colonel Athens is a retired Marine Corps officer with command and staff assignments in all four Marine Aircraft Wings and an instructor tour with Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (the Marine Corps’ equivalent to the Navy’s Top Gun school). He also served as a White House Fellow under President Ronald Reagan and the Special Assistant to the NASA Administrator following the Space Shuttle Challenger accident. Colonel Athens currently speaks around the country about leading with integrity and works alongside leaders to help them fulfill their personal and professional calling. He is married to the former Mistina Root of Williamsburg, Virginia and they have ten children.
